Places to Visit........

The historic walled town of Berwick-upon-Tweed and the unspoilt Northumberland coast are five miles away. The Cheviot Hills and the delightful border towns of Melrose, Selkirk, Kelso and Jedburgh are in one direction with the coastal towns of Bamburgh, Seahouses and Eyemouth in the other. The Holy Island of Lindisfarne, St Abb's Nature Reserve and Farne Islands offer hours of pleasure to historians and naturalists alike.

Close to Banrach are the famous Chain Bridge Honey Farm and Paxton House, which has the greatest Scottish collection of furniture by Chippendale and the largest picture gallery in a Scottish Country House, and is an outstation for the National Galleries of Scotland. There are 80 acres of woodland trails, parkland and gardens, and a net fishing museum on the banks of the Tweed.

The Chain Bridge which spans the River Tweed is the oldest suspension bridge in the United Kingdom carrying a public highway used by vehicular traffic.

How to find us: Take the A698 exit from the A1 trunk road at the East Ord roundabout just west of Berwick-upon-Tweed and continue for about 1 mile and then take a right turn for Horncliffe and the Honey Farm (Brown signs) Continue for about 2 miles and opposite stone pillars and black wrought iron gates take a right turn following the Honey Farm signs. Follow the road past the Honey Farm and cross the River Tweed by the Chain Bridge - note this is a narrow suspension bridge with single file traffic. With a stone wall on your right, continue up the hill until Banrach is reached by taking the second entrance on your right. Banrach is the first house on the right.
